Don’t let your mind turn to mush over the holidays.
Here’s how to keep your grey cells as fresh as a super-smart daisy!
According to science types listening to music makes you smarter
They discovered that playing Mozart to rats made them complete mazes faster and more accurately. It’s thought that pouring Mozart in the lug holes of humans has the same effect. This is because it relaxes and stimulates at the same time.
Don’t worry if classical isn’t your bag though
Some other (much cooler) scientists found that listening to Robbie Williams’ Rock DJ and Kids made students score higher in tests. This might have something to do with the songs having a similar beat to the human heart (or it might have something to do with Robbie being a hunk…).
Doing unfamiliar stuff is another great workout for your grey matter
- Change the hand you use to control your computer mouse.
- Swap your knife and fork over when you are eating.
- Try writing with your opposite hand.
Using different senses stretches mind muscles
Try these brain benders:
- Get dressed with your eyes closed
- Have a conversation using gestures rather than words
