Are you… curvaceous, boyish, mega-boobed, bootilicious or slim? Scroll down and find tips for dressing to suit your shape.
|
If you are curvaceous
- Don’t hide away under baggy clothes. Accentuate your curves with clothes that fit instead.
- Wear tailored outfits that nip in at your waist and out again over your lady bumps.
- Try short cardis and tied ballet tops over fitted tees. They draw eyes up from belly bulge.
Avoid: Skinny jeans. Chunky knits. Spaghetti straps.
If you are boyish
- Balance out your straight up-and-down figure with girlish accessories and long hair.
- Give yourself a waist by wearing hipsters. Ones with side and back pockets create hips too.
- Try swishy skirts, dresses that nip in under the bust and anything that’s cut on the bias.
Avoid: Vertical Stripes. Boxy jackets. Shapeless dresses.
If you are mega-boobed
- A bra that fits is a must. Get measured for free in the lingerie dept of Marks & Spencers.
- Wear boot cut trousers, A-line skirts and shapely garments to balance out your lower half.
- Try V-necks to break up the chest area. Feeling modest? Then layer over higher necklines.
Avoid: Roll necks. Baggy tops. Straight leg trousers.
If you are bootilicious
- Booty is an asset but it can dominate your figure. Balance with halter tops and slash necks.
- Wear lighter clothes on your top half and stick to darker shades for trousers and skirts.
- Try sitting, bending and crouching to test trousers for builder’s crack before you buy them.
Avoid: Pleated skirts. Micro minis. G-strings that show.
If you are slim
- A suits-anything body is great but beware, pic‘n’mix-ing trends might confuse your look.
- Give your style definition by choosing a colour palette that suits you and sticking to it.
- Try flat-front trousers or low waist denim to hide any pre-period tummy bloat you may get.
Avoid: Trend overkill. Too-small or ill-fitting clothes. 3/4 length trousers.
Remember!
Whatever shape you are now, you are still growing which means your body shape could change. Between now and college you could shed puppy fat, develop curves, grow massive hooters or get loads taller. In fact the only thing you can pretty much guarantee is that you won’t get any shorter! As your shape changes refer back to this guide for tips.
