Healthy way to lose those inches

Do you ever get the feeling that a size medium is more like a size small nowadays? While we’re against losing weight to fit into some unrealistic ideal size, let’s protest against this not new-anymore anorexic trend, and get in shape, a healthy and toned shape!

The first step to getting party-hearty is to take a look at your current fitness regime, if you have one. If you’re planning to join the fitness bandwagon, please consult your family doctor before you start.

The biggest mistake you can make is to try a shortcut to weight loss by dieting or starving. The resultant weight loss is water loss and muscle tone loss. C’mon we’re sure you don’t want your skin hanging loose or looking drawn! Aim to lose no more than a kilo per week. Like everything else, there is no shortcut to getting in shape. Eating healthy and working out is the only way to go girls... Trust us; we’ve all tried everything else!

To lose weight, the only thing you need to skip, is a rope and definitely not a meal. Instead make a few changes to your diet to cut back on calories and fat without losing out on the all-essential nutrients. Try replacing nuts for fried snacks, whole-wheat products for white flour (maida) goodies and go for salad instead of starters.
Indulge in your sweet tooth by opting for fruits instead of sugar-laden cakes and ice creams

Eating healthy without exercising is like shopping without buying anything. Good but incomplete!
With all the hot exercise gear and the different varieties of Whisper pads in the market, there is no excuse for missing even a day of your work out!
So hit that treadmill or jogging track but remember start slow. Try to build up to thirty minutes of cardio, like brisk walking, running, cycling or swimming. Add lightweight training to your routine to build muscle tone!

Nothing beats the euphoria of fitting into a much-coveted dress! Keep yourself fit even after the party’s over- why lose that lovely feeling?
