Got friendship problems?
Make your friendship bright again with the friendship fixer. Last term you were inseparable but this term something’s changed. Here’s what to do when friendships turn bad . . .
Friendship problem: You’ve argued Friendship fix: Think about why you’re angry. Then think about all the great things you love about your friend. Is the first thing really more important than all the second things? It’s normal to disagree sometimes – it doesn’t mean you can’t be friends. Wait till you’ve cooled down and then say you’re sorry that you argued and go and do something you both enjoy together. Move on and don’t involve other people.
Friendship problem: You’ve drifted apart Friendship fix: Sometimes you have to work at being friends. Take some time to re-establish the things you have in common. Chat about what’s going on in your life. Ask her about what’s going on in hers. Have lunch together – sharing food is a great way to re-bond. Make sure you stay connected by hanging out at least once a week.
Friendship problem: She’s jealous of you Friendship fix: Jealousy can manifest itself in copying behaviour, bitching and even lying. She’s trying to cut you down. The worst thing you can do is fight back. Instead, help her build up her confidence and value herself. Then she won’t need to feel jealous. Listen when she talks. Laugh at her jokes. Help her feel more included.
